Bart's Story & Our Timeline

​In 2008, all of our lives changed forever. Bart was just two years old when he was diagnosed with hearing loss. Quickly after he received hearing aids and as he grew up, he flourished. He learned to work with his disability and excelled in each classroom and activity he took part in.​

His story changed again however in 2019. As he was playing pickup basketball, he fell and knocked all of his hearing out of his left ear. A few emergency audiology appointments later, he went into surgery for his cochlear implant. After countless hours of speech and hearing therapy, he began to rejoin some of his favorite activities. Bart quickly realized that there was no safe way for his implant to be protected while wearing a helmet and none of his doctors could recommend a product for protection. Cue Deaf Lids™...
